Modern Arnis 6 Count Drill with Sifu J R Roy and Sensei Jeff Chaisson

A brief review of the 6 Count Drill that I learned from Prof. Remy Presas.
Hope it helps to get you practicing the drill again! It's a lot of fun when you and your partner getting it flowing.
Enjoy your practice;^)

Using opposing force to stretch and open fingers, hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders with Sifu J. R. Roy

"Relax the Muscles / Open the Joints"

Using Opposing Force to Stretch and Open the Joints:

1. Stretch the joint forward (Electric/Yang) while simultaneously pulling the joint back (Magnetic/Yin) = Open the Space between the bones

The main idea is to use as little 'force' as possible.

2. A bit more force at the beginning and then much less as you practice and refine the exercise.

3. Tension will constrict and close the small space between the joints.

4. When the joints are open synovial fluid can flow into the small space between the joints and lubricate the area.

5. When the joints are 'open', the bones will 'float' on each other
(As opposed to compressing the space between the bones)

Only the ordinary can become extra-ordinary.

**The importance of developing a regular (daily) practice cannot be understated; No matter the endeavor.**

Only when whatever you are practicing becomes common place, can you expect your results (on all levels) to transcend your personal best and truly become EXTRAORDONARY!!!

A common misunderstanding is that high levels of skill's are due to natural talent but the truth is, extraordinary results only come to those that can apply effort, consistently, over a period of time.

My current training partners.....

These poles are "No Cars Beyond this Point" poles. They are all along the drive beach in NSB, from N to S

They make a wonderful training tool. I use them as a set point when practicing and teaching. I find them especially useful for Bagua Zhang practice and Modern Arnis.

I would always suggest to have a 'set point' whenever you're practicing martial arts, especially Modern Arnis. A set point is equally important when practicing internally for personal cultivation.

Often my internal 'set point' is nature itself, especially water. My personal preference is the Ocean, a good waterfall is a close second.

Enjoy your practice!

My practice spot this morning.....

Mid-morning, high (ish) tide, I was looking for a bit of shade. I had to clear a few reeds, but had a very nice round. I've been watching Sifu Ray Harwards videos (Patreon), teaching Master Liangs Long Form. Very relaxed mental focus, full of emptiness....Wu Wei. He is a wonderful, fully inspired, teacher.
