The Details:
It's 46 at the house. I'm going into The Studio to teach the 8:30am Taiji and Qigong Class.
The Practice:
First I wrote on the board:
"One part moves,
All parts move,
One part stops,
All parts stop"
"Yang = movement
Yin = no movement"
"First the feet and legs,
Next comes the hips, waist and spine,
Finally the shoulders, arms and fingers."
(The 9 Zig Zag Path - Through The Jin Lu)
I started with a round of Cheng Style Baguazhang's 8 Animal Form. Alternating sides, doing one side per change. I did really well with the sequence until #8 Monkey Palm. I think I flushed it out.
I had Nancy and Janee show up and Jack and Read left texts letting me know that they couldn't make it.
We started with some discussion. We then practiced The Dragons Back and Split and Push working on the knee stopping at the correct time and position to allow Jin to move up the body and form in the fingers.
Next I did a round of The Taiji Dance with Nancy (Parts I-VI) working mostly on sequence. I did pull out right side single arm push-hands to work on the internal aspects of this drill
Next we did a brief warm up using the first three exercises from The 10+ focused on separating the red tissue (belly of the larger muscles) and the white tissue (connective tissue and fascia).
Next we did a Round attempting to imbue the Round with the principles that we've been discussing. I recited the Taiji Classics during Part II.
We ended with a brief Standing PT and Healing Qigong. Now I'm journaling the practice in this blog post.
