Tuesday Practice

Notes:

It's travel day.....Oh boy! Orlando to Miami, Miami to Doha, Doha to Male....18 hours total....Ugh!

My posting may be spotty at best until the end of Feb. Oy Vey!!

The Practice:

I started inside with a brief Warm Up and Dumbbell routine

Next I went out in the backyard and did a Round (right side) I focused on breathing 

Next I did Standing and Healing Qigong

Monday Practice

 

The Details:

It's 49 at the house. The sunrise was at 7:08. The low tide was at 8:43.

Notes:

I've got a 9:00 am Dental Cleaning at Tomoka Periodontics in Daytona Beach.

We leave for the Maldives tomorrow afternoon. Lot's of details between now and then!

The Replenishing Beach Project is down in front of The Pelican. I forgot my phone to take a photo on yesterday's QW on the Beach.

The Practice:

I started with a brief Warm Up 

Next I did two round of Anyo Walo focused on correct sequence and techniques

Next I did a round of Sunsu Kata focused on techniques.

Next I did a Round (left side) focused on staying on the left side. I had a glitch at the end of Part I. The other focus was Relaxed Balance throughout the kick and Golden Rooster sequences.

I finished with Standing and Healing Qigong.

Notes:

Sharon flew in last night. Echo just loves her! 

The Practice:

I started inside with a brief warm up.

Next I went outback and did a Round (left side) reciting the Taiji Classics during Part I & II.

Next I did a round of Cheng Style Baguazhang 8 Animal Palms Changes 1-8 (both sides) 

Next I did a round of Lo Family Staff focused on using the correct sequence and techniques.

Saturday Practice

 

The Details:

It's 50 at the house. The sunrise was at 7:10. The low tide was at 6:56.

Notes:

Sharon is flying into Daytona this evening on Breeze. 

I still have not found my RF pouch with the MA license and two credit cards. Very frustrating! I've cancelled the credit cards and ordered a new MA license, but still....What a pain in the ass. 

I found it!! I had placed it in the pouch of my new water bottle. Yay!!

I've got a 10 am video call with Jeff and a phone call with Sifu Ray this afternoon.

More packing and preparing for our Maldives trip on Tuesday.

The Practice:

I started inside with a full round of the original 10 exercises focused on consistency.

Next I went outback and did a Round (right side) reciting the Taiji Classics during Part I

I remained focused on using Neutral Postures.

Next I did Standing and Healing Qigong. 

Next I did a round of Taiji Dao using the right side of the aluminum double Dao set that I have. I focused on using the correct sequence.

Next I did a round of Pa-Kua Knife using my aluminum Dao focused on correct sequence.

Next I did a round of Monkey Staff focused on using high quality postures.  

On my QW on the Beach I did a round of Cheng Style Baguazhang Mother Palms (8 Animal Palms) alternating sides focused on Lion Walking and using quality techniques. 

I did stretching and strength training on the 21st Ave Walkover.

Friday Practice

 



The Army Core Of Engineers keeps moving the replenishing beach project south. They are just north of The Pelican now.

The Details:

It's 40 at the house. (4 in Leyden). The sunrise was at 7:10. The low tide was at 6:03.

Notes:

We're still dealing with the insurance company (Travelers) and the HVAC (Tognarelli)  folks about the damage that we had to our home in Leyden. We're scheduled for Tuesday at 10 for an insurance assessment, IF we can find someone to be there. Oy!!

The Practice:

Yesterday I did a late afternoon QW on the beach with a little stretching and 'heel pounding' at the beginning and stretching and strengthening on the 21st Ave Walkover at the end.

I started inside with a full round of the original 10 Exercises focused on Health.

Next I went out to the backyard and did a round of Anyo Apat focused on sequence and applications.

Next I did a round of Kusanku Kata tuned into mobility and agility.

Next I did a round of Taiji Dao using a wooden Bokken. I focused on sequence and timing.

Next I did a round of Pa-Kua Knife tuned into correct sequence and agility.

Next I did a Round (right side) focused on principles

Next I did a full round of Standing Meditation (all 8 postures) followed by Healing Qigong.


 

Discipline to Practice

 


No matter the method....You still have to practice regularly and consistently in order to obtain and/or maintain high level skills. There is NO other way! The term Discipline stems from its root meaning "to teach" (disciple)

Thursday Practice

 


The Details:

It was 55 at the house. The sunrise was at 7:11. The high tide was at 11:15 (2.6')

Notes:

Jimmy called yesterday afternoon to talk about the mandatory disbursement for our SEP IRA's. I also chatted with him about the college fund for Dylan and Genna. He gave me the 800 # and some advice about how to go about it. 

Lori is coming at 9:30 this morning so we're picking things up to prepare for her. We've made a few phone calls in regards to the insurance claim, one to Kristie and Tognorelli and the other to Dave Hellus. Ginnie called Dead River. 

We've got the spare room and bathroom ready for Sharon. 

Now it's time to get serious about packing for the Maldives trip.

The Practice:

I went out to the backyard to practice while Lori was here. 

I started with a full round of The 10+ focused on "motion is lotion", stretching and strengthening.

Next I did a round of Anyo Lima tuned into the correct sequence.

Next I did a round of Chinto Kata tuned into developing and cultivating mobility and agility.

Next I did a round of Taiji Staff (both sides) tuned into the correct sequence.

Next I did a Round (left side) focused on what I received from watching Master TT Liang do the form yesterday. I did pick up a few things. 

Yesterday I did an afternoon QW on the beach with mobility and agility exercises at the 1/2 way point and mobility and strength training on the 21st Ave Walkover.

Wednesday Practice

The Details:

It's 44 at the house. The sunrise was at 7:11. The high tide was at 10:30 (2.8').

Notes: 

Shopping and packing today. Getting the house ready for Lori tomorrow morning at 9:30 and Sharon coming in on Saturday evening. 

The Practice:

I started inside with a full Dumbbell routine using 15 & 10 lb Dumbbells.

Next I went out back and did a full round of The 10+ including The Dragons Back, Ba Shi, The Three Swings and Song Gong. I was focused on skill development, consistency and overall health.

Next I did a Round (right side) of Part I & II reciting the Taiji Classics during Part I

Next I went out to the front patio and finished with a Round of Part III

Next I did a round of Anyo Anim focused on correct sequence and applications.

Next I did a round of Wansu Kata focused on using quality basics with correct shuffling up timing using full extension. 

Next I went grocery shopping at Publics.

Tuesday Practice

 

NSB is a 'replenishing beach'. Here is the current project just south of 3rd Ave. Like kids building a sand castle on the beach. The Atlantic will just scoop it all up during the next north Easter at high tide. Oy!

The Details:

It was a little warmer this morning, it was 37 and the bird bath was not frozen. Yay!

The sunrise was at 7:12. The high tide was at 9:44 (3.1')

Notes:

I've spent the majority of the last two day's dealing with the furnace in Leyden. It was 4 degrees up there again this morning. The folks at Tognarelli Heating and Cooling were great and got the job done yesterday. Yay! There was a zone (Master bedroom and bathroom) that was frozen. I haven't heard yet if any of the pipes burst. Fingers Crossed that they were just frozen and we got the furnace working in time before they burst. It looks like there was a hot water pipe that burst in the ceiling of Ginnie's garage. They are supposed to go up and fix that at some point. Kristie will keep me informed as work progresses. At the moment the furnace is back working, we have an insurance claim in and Joel Tognarelli know's what the situation is. What a cluster _uck! 

We are setting up a new doctor here in NSB. We have our first appointments later this morning. Oh boy!

I haven't been out to the sunrise since the holidays. First I was too sick and then with the extreme cold and now I'm just out of the habit. I hope I can make one before our Maldives trip next Tuesday. It's coming up fast!

Jeff texted me that he had a pipe in his basement burst overnight. Oy Vey!

The Practice:

I had a very convoluted Round today with several interruptions.

I started inside with a brief Warm Up and Strength training. 

Next I went out to the backyard and did a Round Parts I & II reciting the Taiji Classics during Part I. I got interrupted by an upsetting phone call from Dave about the furnace problems in Leyden. I restarted Part III only to run out of time and ended up finish in Dr. Marks office while I was waiting for him. Not the best Round I've ever had but I did 'get it in'.

On my late afternoon QW on the beach I did mobility training at the half way point along with Anyo Tatlo and Seiunchin Kata and Yin Style Baguazhang 8 Linking Palms Changes 5-8.

At the 21st Ave Walkover I did mobility and strength training before returning to the house.

Monday Practice

 

The Details:

It's another really cold morning (for NSB) it was 33 out front when I got up. I think it was down to 27 overnight, because out back all the water from the sprinklers froze overnight. We've never run the heating system as much as we have this season. Ugh! FYI - Forced hot air heat sucks!

The sunrise was at 7:13. The high tide was at 8:58 (3.1'). 

Notes:

Another day of dealing with the heating system in Leyden! Ugh!! I did find a company that would be able to get someone there today (Tognarelli Heating & Cooling). This morning they had a guy (Rick) fix the furnace and he found that the zone to the master bedroom and bathroom had frozen. So this afternoon two guys went up and they are currently still working on that zone to see if the pipes burst and if there is further damage? Double Ugh!!


The Practice:

I started inside with a full round of the original 10 exercises. I added Up and Down and Tensigrity Swings.

Next I did Standing and Healing Qigong. I continued to work on getting the heating system up and running in Leyden.

Next I did a Round inside focused primarily on 'getting it in'. Later I did Anyo Tatlo and Seiunchin Kata in my head. 



Sunday Practice - Day 8,982

 

The plants suffered from the 25 degree night!

The Details:

It's the coldest morning yet, it was 29 when I got up (7:20) and 25 when Ginnie got up at 6:00. I got a 4 degree reading in Leyden this morning. We saw it got down to 34 in Miami. Yikes it's incredibly cold this morning. 

The sunrise was at 7:13. The high tide was at 8:09 (3.1'). 

Note:

I spent most of the day on the phone with various folks in Leyden. The heating system has no water pressure! Consequently the furnace is sucking air and will not heat the house. Ugh!! Hopefully I can get this resolved today?

The Practice:

I did resistance training inside with TRX Straps and 15 & 10 lb Dumbbells. I did the full routine. 

Next I did a round of the original 10 Exercises focused on stretching and strengthening.

Next I went out back and did a Round of Part I and II the temperature and wind drove me inside to finish. I did Part III inside.

Next I did a brief Standing and Healing Qigong.

Later in the afternoon I did an offering for George and the Maldives Trip.

Not the best day but I did what I could.
