Practice tips from Sifu Roy

Song (Sung)

- often merely called 'relax' -

Relax (SONG) from the top of your head to your feet

*Align to relax

*Relax releases (lengthens and expands through release)

*Release expands (in all directions)

*Expanding connects the fascia from head to toes (internally and externally)

The most efficient way to develop Song (IMO) is with Standing Meditation practices and holding individual postures from forms.

Sifu Roy using 'Raise Hands and Step Up' posture to develop Song.

Raise Hands is one of Sifu's favorite Standing Meditation postures.

Practice tips from Sifu Roy

"Muscle Down, Bones Up"

*Relax/Song is an often misunderstood concept because;

As one 'relaxes' the tendency is to collapse ones structure. This is incorrect!!

**Rather, as one releases the tension in the soft tissue (muscle, connective tissue) the bones (structure) should expand in ALL direction as the joints slightly release and expand. Stand Tall!

***It's imperative to keep ones head vertically aligned with a lightly lifting energy at the crown.

Stand Tall!

Standing Meditation is the best way to explore and develop Song.

Once you have developed a modicum of Song while standing still,
you will eventually develop the ability to be Song while moving,
and then eventually without conscious thought.

Practice tips from Sifu Roy

 Aging is a humbling experience.....

Don't let what you can't do,
interfere with what you can do!

IF you are still healthy enough to practice,
get up and do it!

Celebrate the fact that you still can.

There may come a day when that will not be possible!

You can run but you cannot hide from Father Time!

ENJOY YOUR PRACTICE!
