Sunday Practice

                                                  Foggy sunrise this morning!

The Details:

It's 71 at the house. The sunrise was at 6:43. The last low tide was at 6:17. I've got a video meeting with Jeff at 10. Foggy sunrise this morning!

The Practice:

There was virtually no wind so the no-see-ums were out in force. I was happy that I was wearing long sleeves, pants and socks. It's Sunday so there were a lot of tourists on the beach. Oy!! Most were respectful, then there's always the other side of that. Ugh!

I started with a full round of The 10+ focused on consistency ( I did a brief Warm Up yesterday) and overall health.

Next I did a Round (right side) reciting the Taiji Classics during Parts I & II. I remained focused on feeling the earth pushing up against my feet.

Next I did a round of Yin style Baguazhang 8 Linking Palms Changes 5-8 (both sides)

Next I did a round of Anyo Tatlo tuned into applications.

Next I did a round of Seiunchin Kata focused on details

Next I did a round of Taiji Staff (right side) focused on the low squatting stances and the pool cue thrusts.

Next I did a round of Taiji Staff (left side). tuned into developing my left side. I used a short 'bo staff' for both of these forms.

I finished with Healing Qigong and returned to the house to eat breakfast and journal today's practices.

It's 67 at the house. The sunrise is at 6:41. The high tide is at 8:56.

The Practice:

I QW to the beach just after the sunrise. I shot this image as soon as I arrived on the beach.

I just realized that I did not do a round of Baguazhang (Cheng style Old 8 Palms). Oy! I'll catch up with that tomorrow. I notice it's challenging to remember and have the proper spirit for all the forms that I have put in rotation. It's a lot and I haven't put the various Qigongs that I know in the rotation.

I returned to the house to eat breakfast and journal today's practice.

Patience and persistence

"Patience and persistence are painful,

but it can gradually bring you benefits"

Wednesday Practice - Day # 7 in the rotation - Lo Family Staff Day

The Details:

It's 67 at the house. The sunrise was at 6:40. The high tide was at 8:04. I was surprised that there was so much beach to practice on. Last night the moon was 100% full and it's November. Last year I had to time my visits to the beach because the only time there was enough beach to walk or practice on was an hour or so on either side of low tide. Apparently it's different this year? I'll take it!!

The Practice:

"Patience and persistence are painful,

but it can gradually bring you benefits"

I Qigong Walked (QW) to the beach right around sunrise.

After taking a photo I started with a full round of The 10+ tuned into consistency and overall health.

Next I did a Round (left side) reciting the Taiji Classics during Part I. I remained focused on "Whole Body is Light and Agile and All of it's Parts are Connected Like a String of Pearls".

Next I did Healing Qigong and Standing PT

Next I did a round of Yin style Baguazhang Changes 5-8 (both sides) reciting the names of the postures when I could.

Next I did a round of Anyo Pito focused on using the correct sequence in the correct direction. (Cognition)

Next I did a round of Sunsu Kata tuned into the variety movements. I got a bit confused towards the end of the Kata.

Next I returned to the house and flushed out Sunsu Kata.

Next I did a round of Monkey Staff. I needed to do a round of this form to make up for yesterday.

Next I did a round of Lo Family Staff tuned into the "Round The Head" and pool cue thrusts.

I'm all caught up. I'm not sure what I'll do in the long run as far as it goes for practicing the weapons forms that I know on the beach.

I still have Monkey Staff to do.

Friday Practice - Day #4 in the rotation - Taiji Staff Day

The Details:

It's 50 at the house. It rained overnight and it's not done yet. Today is our last day in Leyden this season. I've got lots and lots of chores, packing and generally leaving the farm in good shape for next season.

The Practice:

Once I tore myself away from packing and chores I went out on The Deck and started with a full round of the original 10 Exercises. I focused on consistency and overall health.

Next I did a Round (left side) reciting the Taiji Classics during Parts I & II. I remained focused on using my waist as the controlling axis and moving slow and smooth.

Slow is Smooth,

Smooth is Fast

Next I did a round of Cheng style Baguazhang 8 Animal (Mother) Palms Changes 1-4 (both sides) tuned into using the correct sequence and imitating the animal of that particular Palm.

Next I did a round of Anyo Apat focused on sequence and the overall quality of my basic punches and kicks.

Next I did a round of Wansu Kata tuned into the timing of Shuffle and Strike.

Next I did a round of Taiji Staff (right side) focused on Stance work.

Next I did a round of Taiji Staff (left side) tuned into the sequence. I'm noticing the improvement in memorizing the sequence on the left side.

I finished with Healing Qigong and returning to the house to journal today's practices.

Private Lessons with Sifu Roy

FYI - I'll be traveling the next three day's so I suspect that I'll need to postpone my journaling until we arrive in NSB. I'll keep up my daily Rounds and a bit more if I have the time. Frankly I'm not looking forward to driving down I95....Oy Vey!

Thursday Practice

The Details:

It's 47 at the house. Short practice today because I'm crazy busy trying to get the farm ready and pack for our 6 months migration to NSB early on Saturday morning. So many details!!

The Practice:

Once I broke away from chores I went upstairs to The Loft and did a brief Warm Up.

Next I did a round of Yin style Baguazhang 8 Linking Palms Changes 5-8 (both sides) I needed to do this to 'catch up' I forgot to do it yesterday (Day #3) so this was a make up.

Next I did a Round (right side) I recited the Taiji Classics during Parts I & II. I got a bit confused in Part II during the kinks about which side I was doing today. Somehow I got on the left side?

I was out of time so I returned to the house. I'm late in journaling today's practice, but here it is!
